The Nigeria Police have firmly stated their decision to avoid engaging in a media battle with Governor Siminalayi Fubara. This declaration comes as tensions rise over the police's non-participation in Local Government Area (LGA) elections, a stance they attribute to adherence to a court order.
The police spokesperson, Muyiwa Adejobi, has been vocal in dismissing allegations of partisanship, emphasizing the force's dedication to neutrality and non-interference in political affairs. He criticized what he described as misinformation stemming from Governor Fubara's comments, labeling them as "totally uncalled for and unfair to the law enforcement institutions in Nigeria."
Adejobi further highlighted the esteemed reputation of the Inspector-General of Police, noting his leadership roles within international policing organizations such as the West African Police Chiefs Committee (WAPCCO).
