Russia have reported the destruction of 125 Ukrainian drones over its territory overnight. The Russian Defense Ministry announced on Sunday, September 29, 2024, that these drones were intercepted by air defense systems, with regional governors confirming some damage but no casualties.

The Volgograd region saw the highest number of drone interceptions, with 67 drones downed. Governor Andrei Bocharov noted that falling debris sparked grass fires but did not result in any casualties or major damage. In the Voronezh region, 17 drones were destroyed, causing fires in two residential buildings in Voronezh city and its suburbs, as reported by Governor Alexander Gusev.

Similarly, 17 drones were intercepted over the Belgorod region, while 18 were taken down in the Rostov region, where Governor Vasily Golubev confirmed no casualties or ground damage.

Single drones were also intercepted over the Bryansk and Kursk regions, as well as Krasnodar, which neighbors Crimea. Additionally, three drones were shot down over the waters of the Sea of Azov. This incident is part of a broader pattern of daily drone interceptions by Russia, which it claims are retaliatory strikes for Ukrainian attacks during the ongoing offensive that began in February 2022.

In a related development, Ukrainian forces targeted a missile storage arsenal in Kotluban, Volgograd region, early on the same day. According to sources from Ukraine's special services, the operation involved multiple military agencies and utilized 120 kamikaze drones. The attack resulted in substantial damage to the depot, which housed missiles, ammunition, and explosives, potentially leading to supply shortages for Russian forces.
