
Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Thursday presented an ambitious budget estimate for the year 2025 to the Lagos State House of Assembly.

The proposed budget, themed the "Budget of Sustainability," amounts to over ₦3 trillion, hugely surpassing the previous year's budget of ₦2.267 trillion. This financial plan is designed as a blueprint for continuity, resilience, and prosperity for the residents of Lagos.
Governor Sanwo-Olu emphasized that the budget is structured around five key pillars: Infrastructure, Sustainability, Economic Diversification, and Institutional Reforms. He highlighted the importance of these areas in driving the state's development and ensuring the well-being of its citizens.
The presentation took place at a ceremony held in the State House, Alausa, Ikeja, with notable attendees including Deputy Governor Dr. Femi Hamzat and Speaker of the House of Assembly Mudashiru Obasa.
The governor assured that the state government is committed to upholding the highest levels of transparency and accountability in implementing the budget. He stated, "The success of this Appropriation Law will be determined by how effective its implementation will be in relation to the wellbeing of our citizens."
Sanwo-Olu also underlined the necessity of collective responsibility, urging citizens to fulfill their civic obligations to ensure the successful execution of the budget.
This budget aims not only to advance economic growth and sustainability but also to transform the lives of Lagosians by prioritizing spending on infrastructure, environment, education, and technology. The governor pledged to diligently work towards completing ongoing projects and achieving the objectives set out in the budget, aligning with the THEMES+ agenda to bring forth a Greater Lagos.
