Senate to Begin Screening of Ministerial Nominees Today


The Nigerian Senate is set to screen ministerial nominees forwarded by President Bola Tinubu for confirmation on Tuesday. This process is a critical step in the appointment of key government officials and is conducted in compliance with Section 147 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 (As Amended).


The nominees have been vetted by the Department of State Services (DSS) and have submitted their credentials to Senator Basheer Lado, the Special Adviser to the President on Senate Matters. The screening is part of the procedures required for their confirmation.


The seven nominees include:


1. Dr. Nentawe Yilwatda for Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction

2. Muhammadu Maigari Dingyadi for Minister of Labour and Employment

3. Bianca Odinaka Odumegu-Ojukwu for Minister of State, Foreign Affairs

4. Dr. Jumoke Oduwole for Minister of Industry, Trade and Development

5. Idi Maiha for Minister of Livestock Development

6. Yusuf Abdullahi Ata for Minister of State, Housing

7. Dr. Suwaiba Ahmad for Minister of State, Education
