Chairman of the Senate Committee on Finance, Senator Sani Musa, has lauded President Bola Tinubu's economic reforms, particularly the removal of fuel subsidies and the floating of the naira, as transformative steps for Nigeria.
These reforms, initiated since Tinubu's inauguration in May 2023, are designed to revitalize the nation's economy, despite the immediate challenges they pose, such as tripled fuel prices and an inflation rate soaring to 25%.
Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Senator Sani emphasized, "Removing subsidy is the best thing that has happened to this country."
He argued that these measures are crucial for long-term national benefits, even as Nigerians face significant economic hardships.
The senator also highlighted the role of the Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC), which disburses substantial funds to states monthly.
He criticized some state governments for not effectively utilizing these allocations to address pressing issues within their jurisdictions. "If the money that Nigeria is making today and the money that FAAC is distributing to the states, the state governments utilize that money adequately, a lot of things will go well," he stated.
