Former Kaduna Central Senator, Shehu Sani, has described the ongoing petrol price war between Dangote Refinery and the Nigeria National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) as nothing more than a "skit." This statement comes in response to the Federal Government's decision to remain neutral in the pricing conflict.
On Wednesday, President Bola Tinubu's spokesman, Bayo Onanuga, announced that the government would not interfere in the dispute. "Both parties are at liberty to determine their own market prices for consumers," Onanuga stated, emphasizing that the deregulation of Nigeria's petroleum sector allows all stakeholders to set their prices according to economic market forces.
Reacting to this development, Sani took to social media platform X to express his skepticism. "Now that the FG will not intervene in the Price war between Dangote and the NNPCL shows that ‘the war’ is a Skit," he posted.
