"Sometimes It Feels Like Prison" - Beyonce Talks About the Dark Side of Fame

Beyoncé Knowles has opened up about the pressures and constraints of fame. The 43-year-old superstar, who has been in the public eye since her early days with Destiny's Child, compared her fame to "a prison."

She explained, "It is fame that can at times feel like prison. So, when you don't see me on red carpets, and when I disappear until I have art to share, that's why."

Beyoncé emphasized her commitment to maintaining boundaries to protect her personal life and family. "I have made an extreme effort to stay true to my boundaries and protect myself and my family," she told GQ.

Despite her immense success, including 32 Grammy Awards, she strives for normalcy, especially for her children, Blue Ivy, 12, and twins Rumi and Sir, 7, whom she shares with husband Jay-Z.

The singer also discussed her approach to creativity and work. "I focus on storytelling, growth, and quality," she said. "I'm not focused on perfectionism. I focus on evolution, innovation, and shifting perception."

Her recent project, "Cowboy Carter," which topped country charts, was mentioned as an example of her liberating work. "Working on the music for 'Cowboy Carter' and launching this exciting new project feel nothing like prison, nor a burden. In fact, I only work on what liberates me."

Beyoncé's desire for privacy extends to her daily routine. She shared, "Most days I try to wake up around 6 a.m., squeezing in an hour or two of work before the little ones are up. Our home is alive with cousins and friends, spontaneous talent shows, and the clatter of dominoes." She also revealed her efforts to focus on health, mentioning her clean diet and giving up meat, except for turkey, this summer.

Despite her fame, Beyoncé remains grounded and dedicated to her family's well-being. "No amount of money is worth my peace," she asserted, highlighting the importance of protecting her personal life from becoming a brand.
