Southampton Football Club has officially signed England goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale from Arsenal on a four-year contract. The transfer, completed on August 30, 2024, is reported to be worth £25 million ($32.95 million).

Ramsdale, who is 26 years old, has made 89 appearances for Arsenal since joining the club in 2021 from Sheffield United.
During his time at Arsenal, he helped the team finish second in the Premier League in the 2022-23 season but found himself out of favor following the arrival of David Raya from Brentford.

Ramsdale has also represented England at various levels, including the senior team, and was part of the squads that finished as runners-up at both UEFA Euro 2020 and 2024, as well as the 2022 FIFA World Cup. He has earned five international caps at the senior level.
Southampton manager Russell Martin expressed his delight at the signing, stating, "Bringing in a player like Aaron is a real statement signing for us."
Ramsdale himself shared his enthusiasm, saying, "The way the manager wants to play, the way he was when I spoke to him, he was just full of so much enthusiasm. I'd never met him before, but he made me feel about eight feet tall, which is just what you want."
Ramsdale's move to Southampton marks a pivotal addition to the newly promoted Premier League side, which aims to strengthen its squad ahead of the new season. The club has the option to extend Ramsdale's contract by an additional 12 months.
