Thomas Tuchel has reached an agreement to become the new manager of the England national football team.
The 51-year-old German tactician, who previously managed Chelsea and Bayern Munich, will take over from interim manager Lee Carsley starting January 1, 2025.
This appointment follows Gareth Southgate's resignation after England's defeat to Spain in the European Championship final in July 2024. Tuchel's contract with the Football Association is set for 18 months, marking him as the third foreign manager to lead the Three Lions, following Sven-Goran Eriksson and Fabio Capello.
His extensive experience includes leading Chelsea to a UEFA Champions League victory in 2021. The FA is expected to confirm his appointment at a press conference scheduled for Wednesday at Wembley Stadium.
