President Bola Tinubu ahead of the governorship election in Ondo State has made a fervent appeal to all political stakeholders and the electorate to maintain peace and uphold their civic duties without fear. The election is scheduled for Saturday, November 16, 2024, across all 18 Local Government Areas of the state.
In a statement released by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu emphasized the importance of a democratic process that genuinely reflects the people's will and their power to freely choose their leaders.
The President commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for its diligent preparations, particularly the timely distribution of sensitive materials across the state.
He also acknowledged the deployment of security personnel to ensure law and order, appreciating assurances from the Inspector-General of Police and the Chief of Defence Staff regarding the professional conduct of their personnel in adherence to the Electoral Act.
President Tinubu reminded political stakeholders, especially candidates, that the privilege to govern is bestowed by the people and must be respected. He stressed that ensuring a free and fair election is in the best interest of all Nigerians, as it consolidates over 25 years of democratic governance.
