Tinubu Calls for Unified Action Against Insecurity in Africa's Military Forces

President Bola Tinubu has made a pivotal call to action for the African military, urging them to unite in addressing the continent's pressing security challenges.

Speaking at the opening of the second edition of the Africa Military Games (AMGA) held at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja, Tinubu, represented by Vice-President Kashim Shettima, emphasized the importance of collective efforts in tackling insecurity and threats to Africa's unity and stability.

The event, themed "Enhancing Military Cooperation in Africa through Sports," marked a revival of a tradition that began over two decades ago in Nairobi, Kenya. Tinubu highlighted the critical role of sports in fostering physical fitness, discipline, and resilience among military personnel—traits essential for confronting Africa's diverse security issues.

In his address, Tinubu stated, "Our collective safety and the well-being of our people demand that we stand together, shoulder to shoulder, as one united Africa."

He acknowledged that no single nation could combat insecurity alone and stressed the need for deepening friendships and partnerships across the continent. "As long as any nation within our shared geography remains under threat, none of us can declare our continent secure. Together, we will build a safer, stronger Africa," he asserted.

Tinubu also commended the leadership of the Chief of Defence Staff, Christopher Musa, and the President of the Organisation of Military Sports in Africa, Maikano Abdullahi, for their roles in reviving the games.

He underlined the broader importance of unity in addressing security threats, noting that solutions must extend beyond kinetic measures to include cooperative strategies that strengthen the bonds between African nations.
