
President Bola Tinubu spearheaded the launch of the 2025 Armed Forces Remembrance Day Emblem and Appeal Fund at the Council Chambers of the State House.
This initiative underscores the Nigerian government's dedication to honoring military personnel who have played a crucial role in maintaining national security.
During the ceremony, President Tinubu commended the Armed Forces for their unwavering commitment as "the first line of defence in protecting the country."
He emphasized that "it will be impossible to promote peace and development without security," highlighting the indispensable role of the military in ensuring Nigeria's unity, stability, and progress.
In recognition of the sacrifices made by fallen heroes, significant financial contributions were pledged.
The Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, announced a donation of N500 million on behalf of government officials. Additionally, the President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, contributed N200 million representing the National Assembly, while the Chief Defence of Staff, CDS Christopher Musa, declared a donation of N50 million on behalf of the service chiefs and the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun.
