President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has firmly stood by his decision to uphold the controversial 'Tax Reform Bill'.
This stance comes despite advice from the National Economic Council (NEC) urging him to reconsider and withdraw the bill.
The 'Tax Reform Bill', which aims to overhaul Nigeria's tax system, has been a subject of intense debate.
Proponents argue that it is necessary for boosting government revenue and ensuring economic stability, while critics fear it may place an undue burden on businesses and individuals already grappling with economic challenges.
President Tinubu, in a statement, emphasized the importance of the bill for Nigeria's future economic health. "We must look beyond immediate discomforts and focus on long-term gains," he asserted.
"This reform is crucial for creating a sustainable financial environment that will benefit all Nigerians."
The NEC, however, has expressed concerns about the potential negative impacts of the bill, suggesting that it could stifle economic growth and discourage investment.
Despite these warnings, Tinubu remains resolute, highlighting the need for decisive action in addressing Nigeria's fiscal challenges.
