Minister of Art, Culture, and Creative Economy, Hannatu Musawa, has publicly addressed the ongoing controversy surrounding her National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) certificate.

During an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Musawa firmly denied any misconduct, stating, "The fact that I am sitting here means that I didn’t do anything wrong."

The controversy began during her 2023 ministerial screening when she failed to provide evidence of completing the mandatory NYSC scheme. Despite this, President Bola Tinubu's administration confirmed her appointment.

A legal suit was filed against Musawa, alleging she did not meet the NYSC requirements for federal office. However, in April 2024, Justice James Omotosho of the Federal High Court in Abuja dismissed the case, citing the plaintiffs' lack of legal standing.

Musawa suggested that the details of the situation have been misunderstood and hinted at sharing her full account in the future, remarking, "One day, I will come out with my account... I have probably done more NYSC than you. I have done at least two NYSCs in my life."
