President Bola Tinubu is scheduled to travel to China with the primary objective of finalizing a major rail contract and other Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) in early September 2024.
According to the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, this trip will provide Tinubu an opportunity to meet with Chinese Prime Minister Xi Jinping to discuss bilateral matters.
One of the key highlights of this visit is the meeting with the management of the Chinese Rail Construction Company (CRCC) to conclude the contract terms for the Ibadan to Abuja rail project.
This project is expected to be a cornerstone in Nigeria's infrastructure development, enhancing connectivity between major cities and fostering economic growth.
Additionally, the trip aims to attract foreign direct investment into Nigeria, particularly in sectors such as agriculture, power, commerce, and communications. Several MOUs are anticipated to be signed during this visit, which will further solidify economic cooperation between Nigeria and China.
