Tinubu Submits Names for North West Development Commission Governing Board

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has taken a significant step towards the development of Nigeria's North West region by submitting the names of the inaugural Governing Board members for the North West Development Commission (NWDC) to the Senate for confirmation. This move, announced on September 28, 2024, aims to address various socio-economic and environmental challenges in the region.


The NWDC is tasked with reconstructing infrastructure such as roads, houses, and business premises that have been destroyed by multiple crises. Additionally, the commission will tackle issues related to poverty, literacy, and ecological problems in the states of Kaduna, Kano, Katsina, Kebbi, Jigawa, Sokoto, and Zamfara.


President Tinubu emphasized the importance of this initiative, stating, "The North West Development Commission is crucial for accelerating development and fostering resilience in our North West geopolitical zone."


The proposed Governing Board includes:


- **Chairman:** Ambassador Haruna Ginsau (Jigawa)

- **MD/CEO:** Professor Abdullahi Shehu Ma’aji (Kano)

- **Members:** Dr. Yahaya Umar Namahe (Sokoto), Hon. Aminu Suleiman (Kebbi), Sen. Tijani Yahaya Kaura (Zamfara), Hon. Abdulkadir S. Usman (Kaduna), Hon. Muhammad Ali Wudil (Kano), Shamsu Sule (Katsina), and Nasidi Ali (Jigawa).
