Popular American rapper Travis Scott was arrested but subsequently released without charges following an altercation at a luxury hotel.
The incident occurred on Friday, August 9, at the prestigious Georges V hotel in Paris, where Scott, whose real name is Jacques Webster II, got into a physical confrontation with his own bodyguard. A hotel security guard intervened, leading to further escalation.
French prosecutors confirmed that police were called to the scene early Friday morning to detain Scott for "violence against a security guard."
According to a statement from the Paris prosecutor's office, "The police custody order for Travis Scott has been lifted and all proceedings against him were terminated because the incident was minor."
Scott, who had been in Paris to enjoy the Olympic festivities, including watching the United States men's basketball team triumph over Serbia in the semifinals, found himself swarmed by fans and paparazzi throughout the week.
A source close to the rapper revealed that Scott blamed his bodyguard for not providing adequate protection, which led to the altercation.
Despite the arrest, Scott's representative assured the public that they were "in direct communication with the local Parisian authorities to resolve this matter swiftly." The representative also confirmed via email that "Travis Scott has been released with no charges."
