Former President Donald Trump has agreed to a debate with Vice President Kamala Harris on September 4, a major development in the 2024 presidential race.
This event, set to be moderated by Fox News, marks the first face-off between Trump and Harris since she became the Democratic nominee following President Joe Biden's withdrawal from the race on July 21.
Trump announced his acceptance of the debate offer late Friday via a post on Truth Social, stating, "I have agreed with Fox News to debate Kamala Harris on Wednesday, September 4th."

The debate is scheduled to take place in Pennsylvania, a crucial battleground state, although the exact location remains to be determined. Fox News anchors Bret Baier and Martha MacCallum are slated to moderate the event.
The debate rules will mirror those of Trump's previous debate with President Biden, including mic cuts to prevent interruptions.
Trump emphasized that the debate would feature a live audience, contrasting with the empty venue of his last debate with Biden hosted by CNN.
Kamala Harris, who was sworn in as Vice President on January 20, 2021, is the first woman, the first Black American, and the first South Asian American to hold this position.
Born in Oakland, California, on October 20, 1964, she is the daughter of an Indian mother and Jamaican father. Harris served as a U.S. senator from California from 2017 to 2021 and as the state's attorney general before that.
Harris secured the Democratic nomination after Biden's exit, despite initial reluctance from Trump to acknowledge her candidacy. Trump had previously stated he would not debate Harris until she was officially endorsed, which occurred shortly after Biden's withdrawal.
