Trump Challenges Harris to Three Debates in September Showdown

Esther

ABC News has confirmed that it will host the first debate between former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris on September 10, 2024.

This announcement was made via a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, following Trump's proposal for multiple debates against his Democratic rival.

Trump, addressing reporters at his Palm Beach estate, expressed his willingness to engage in three debates across different networks, showing the importance of these face-offs in the lead-up to the November election.

Kamala Harris, who is campaigning vigorously on issues such as abortion access, gun-law reform, and making life more affordable for families, has seen a surge in her poll numbers.

Recent polls indicate a tight race, with Harris leading Trump by narrow margins. For instance, a Marquette Law School poll conducted between July 24 and August 1 showed Harris as the preferred choice of president for 52 percent of registered voters, compared to 48 percent for Trump. Among likely voters, Harris' lead extends to 53 percent over Trump's 47 percent.

The upcoming debates are expected to be pivotal moments in the 2024 presidential race. As the candidates prepare to present their visions for America's future, the nation watches closely, anticipating a series of intense and revealing exchanges.
