Former US President and current Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump revealed his plans to appoint tech billionaire Elon Musk to a key position in his administration if he wins the upcoming election.
Trump stated that Musk would lead a newly established government efficiency commission aimed at eliminating "fraud and improper payments" within six months. "I will create a government efficiency commission tasked with conducting a complete financial and performance audit of the entire federal government," Trump declared during his speech.
This commission, according to Trump, would be headed by Musk, who has already expressed his willingness to serve without pay or recognition. "I look forward to serving America if the opportunity arises," Musk wrote on X (formerly Twitter).
In addition to this announcement, Trump laid out several economic initiatives designed to boost the American economy.
These include slashing corporate tax rates for companies that manufacture domestically from 21% to 15%, establishing "low-tax" zones on federal lands to encourage homebuilding, and creating a sovereign wealth fund.
Trump also mentioned a controversial plan to ban mortgages for migrants living illegally in California, claiming without evidence that they were driving up housing costs.
