A Los Angeles County jury has delivered a verdict in the high-profile murder trial of rapper PnB Rock, whose real name was Rakim Allen.

The jury found Freddie Lee Trone, 42, and Tremont Jones guilty on multiple charges related to the fatal shooting of the rapper at Roscoe’s House of Chicken and Waffles in South Los Angeles on September 12, 2022.

Freddie Lee Trone was convicted of felony murder, two counts of second-degree robbery, and one count of conspiracy to commit robbery.

Prosecutors argued that Trone orchestrated the robbery by sending his 17-year-old son into the restaurant armed with a handgun to rob PnB Rock and his girlfriend. The teenager demanded the rapper's jewelry before opening fire, resulting in PnB Rock's death.

Trone's defense claimed he was merely the getaway driver and had no prior knowledge of the shooting, but surveillance footage placed him at the scene 30 minutes before the incident.

Tremont Jones was found guilty of two counts of second-degree robbery and one count of conspiracy to commit robbery.

According to the prosecution, Jones informed Trone of PnB Rock's presence at the restaurant and the valuable jewelry he was wearing. Jones' lawyer, David Haas, announced plans to appeal the verdict, arguing there was insufficient evidence to prove Jones' involvement in the murder.

PnB Rock's mother, Deannea Allen, expressed her relief and satisfaction with the verdict, stating, "I just said, 'Hallelujah, thank God.' Justice has been served." The rapper's girlfriend, Stephanie Sibounheuang, also shared her grief and gratitude on social media, crediting PnB Rock for saving her life during the attack.

The case drew massive attention due to PnB Rock's popularity and the brazen nature of the crime. Known for hits like "Selfish" and "Fleek," PnB Rock was a prominent figure in the music industry, celebrated for his ability to blend singing and rapping seamlessly.

Both Trone and Jones are scheduled to be sentenced on August 27th, 2024.
