Two police officers in Lagos have been identified and detained following an incident where they allegedly pursued a middle-aged man into a canal. The incident, which has sparked outrage, was shared online by an X-user who provided updates on the situation.
According to eyewitnesses, the officers, who were not in uniform, profiled the victim as a "Yahoo boy" due to his tattoo, prompting him to flee. During the chase, the man's money fell from his pockets, and he left his slippers behind, which the officers reportedly took.
The pursuit ended tragically when the man fell into the canal at Moshalashi, sustaining a head injury after hitting a stone. He was later found unconscious and taken to the hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. The officers involved have been detained at Area M of the Lagos Command, thanks to the cooperation of their DPO and eyewitness accounts.
