The UK aviation authorities have expressed a willingness to engage in discussions regarding slot allocation for Nigerian airline Air Peace at Heathrow Airport.

This openness comes with specific conditions that need to be met by the airline. According to a communication from UK transport secretary Louise Haigh to Festus Keyamo, Nigeria's minister of aviation and aerospace development, the primary reason Air Peace has not secured slots is due to their "late application."

To address this issue, Haigh suggested several alternatives for Air Peace. The airline could consider "joining a waitlist," acquiring slots through trading, or continuing its operations from Gatwick Airport.

This proposal follows a stern warning from the Nigerian government, which had threatened to withhold slot allocations for UK carriers at Lagos and Abuja airports unless Air Peace was accommodated at Heathrow.
