Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar's criticism of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's economic policies. Atiku, who was defeated by Tinubu in the 2023 presidential election, described the current administration's approach as a "trial-and-error" and "palliative economy."

He argued that implementing multiple reforms simultaneously, such as changes to the exchange rate, electricity tariffs, and petrol prices, would be an "overkill."

Responding to these criticisms, Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to President Tinubu on Information and Strategy, countered that Atiku's ideas lacked detail and were decisively rejected by Nigerians in the 2023 polls.

Onanuga suggested that an Atiku-led administration might have led the country into deeper crises or cronyism. Adding to the rebuttal, Dada Olusegun, the President's Special Adviser on Social Media, dismissed Atiku's remarks by pointing out his inability to maintain unity within his own party.

Olusegun stated, “You weren’t elected, Alhaji. You can’t even unite your party with only 13 governors. You can’t provide proper leadership to be considered a serious opposition.”

This internal discord within the People's Democratic Party (PDP) is largely attributed to the fallout between Atiku and former Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike, following the party's primary where Atiku emerged as the presidential candidate.
