University of Ibadan Students Turn to Crowdfunding Amidst Tuition Fee Hike

Esther

In a bid to cope with the recent hike in tuition fees, students at the University of Ibadan are resorting to crowdfunding to cover their educational expenses.

The financial strain has led the University of Ibadan Student Union and various faculties to publicly appeal for funds ahead of the September 20 deadline.

The student union has set an ambitious goal to raise 50 million naira within four days to assist 500 students. Similarly, the Pharmaceutical Association of Nigeria Students is seeking 14 million naira to support 100 students.

These efforts shows the severe financial challenges faced by the students due to the fee increase and Nigeria's broader economic difficulties. "This fee hike has put us in a very difficult position," said a representative from the student union. "We are appealing to the public to help us ensure that no student is left behind due to financial constraints.
