Report have emerged of a distressing incident involving the abduction of a 300-level student from the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), Ogun State.

The student, identified as Christiana Idowu, was kidnapped along the Ikorodu-Yaba Road while en route to the University of Lagos (UNILAG) for her industrial training.

According to a family source who requested anonymity due to security concerns, the kidnappers initially demanded a ransom of ₦3 million for Christiana's release.

The source revealed, "They are communicating with the family through her WhatsApp, and they demanded ₦3 million. We appealed to them, and it was reduced to ₦1 million, then ₦500,000, and later, they asked that we pay ₦350,000."

Despite the family's efforts to negotiate and the eventual payment of ₦350,000, the kidnappers refused to release Christiana. They further complicated the situation by demanding the bank statement of the account from which the ransom was transferred before considering her release.

The family, feeling overwhelmed and unable to handle the situation independently, has since reported the matter to the police and is urging the government and the public for assistance.

Folashade Oluwole, the Ogun State Deputy Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), stated she had not yet been informed of the situation but promised to follow up on the case.
