NAF Airstrikes Neutralise Several Terrorist Near Lake Chad

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has successfully conducted airstrikes in the Jubillaram area near Lake Chad, eliminating several terrorists.

This operation, carried out on August 30, 2024, targeted militants who had been displaced to higher ground due to persistent rainfall.

The Director of Public Relations and Information for NAF, Air Vice Marshal Edward Gabkwet, confirmed the success of the mission in a statement released in Abuja. "Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) missions revealed terrorists with salvaged belongings in makeshift accommodations, leading to precision airstrikes that destroyed structures and neutralized several militants," Gabkwet stated.

The air interdiction mission was part of a broader strategy to disrupt terrorist activities and safeguard the nation from ongoing threats. "The excess rainfall and swampy terrain inadvertently pushed the terrorists out of hiding, allowing the NAF to strike a blow," Gabkwet added. He emphasized that the operation had destabilized the terrorists' center of gravity, significantly diminishing their capacity to cause harm, especially to civilian targets.

This successful mission shows the NAF's commitment to its mandate of protecting Nigeria from terrorist threats.

The Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar, has instructed all Air Component Commanders to intensify operations against terrorists and criminal elements.

The recent strike at Jubillaram is a testament to the effectiveness of these directives. "The success of the operation demonstrates the NAF’s commitment to achieving its mandate and protecting the nation from terrorist threats," Gabkwet concluded.
