Tech billionaire Elon Musk has asserted that the re-election of Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump is crucial for preserving democracy in the United States.
Musk's comments, made on September 30, 2024, shows his belief that a Trump loss in the upcoming November election would signify the end of democratic processes in the country.
Musk elaborated on his concerns by highlighting the Democrats' efforts to expedite citizenship for undocumented immigrants. He stated, "If even one in 20 illegals become US citizens yearly, something that the Democrats are expediting as fast as humanly possible, that would be about 2 million new legal voters in four years."
Given the narrow voting margins in swing states, often less than 20,000 votes, Musk suggested that this influx of new voters could lead to a one-party system dominated by the Democratic Party. He further criticized the Biden/Harris administration for allegedly flying asylum seekers directly into swing states like Pennsylvania, Ohio, Wisconsin, and Arizona, where they are fast-tracked to citizenship.
According to Musk, this strategy ensures Democratic victories in these critical regions, effectively eliminating the concept of swing states. "Very few Americans realize that, if Trump is NOT elected, this will be the last election. Far from being a threat to democracy, he is the only way to save it!" Musk posted on X. He drew a parallel to California, where he believes extreme socialism and restrictive government policies have taken hold following the 1986 amnesty.
Musk warned that if the entire country falls under similar control, there would be no escape from such policies. Musk's remarks come at a time when early voting has already begun in Nebraska and Washington, D.C., ahead of the November 5 election.

Nebraska, a traditionally Republican state, has started absentee voting with no excuse needed to apply, while Washington, D.C., has automatically sent absentee ballots to all active registered voters.
