Vice President Kamala Harris in the aftermath of the 2024 U.S. presidential election decided not to address her supporters on election night. This decision was announced by her campaign co-chair, Cedric Richmond, early on Wednesday morning.

The announcement came as the results began to favor former President Donald Trump, who secured a second, nonconsecutive term in the White House.
Richmond informed the crowd gathered at Howard University that "we still have votes to count," and thus, they would not hear from the vice president that night. He assured them that Harris would return to speak the following day.
The mood at Harris' watch party shifted dramatically as the evening progressed. Initially, supporters were in high spirits, celebrating with music and waving American flags as Harris took an early lead in some key states. However, as the night wore on and the results from battleground states like Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, and Michigan began to tilt in Trump's favor, the atmosphere grew somber.
Many supporters left the event early, and rumors circulated that Harris would not be making an appearance, drawing comparisons to Hillary Clinton's 2016 campaign.
Despite the setback, Richmond emphasized that the campaign was not over, indicating that Harris would address her supporters soon. Meanwhile, President-elect Donald Trump delivered his victory speech, promising a "richer, safer, and stronger" America.
