US Sanctions Chinese Firms For Making Weapons For Russia’s War

The United States has imposed its first sanctions on Chinese firms for their involvement in supplying weapons to Russia, specifically targeting two China-based drone suppliers.

This move marks a pivotal moment as it is the first instance of penalizing Chinese companies for providing complete weapons systems to Russia amidst its ongoing conflict with Ukraine.

The US Treasury Department accused these Chinese firms of collaborating with Russian defense entities to produce the "Garpiya series" long-range unmanned aerial vehicles.

These drones have reportedly been deployed by Russia in its war against Ukraine, causing mass casualties and the destruction of critical infrastructure.

The sanctions highlight Washington's stance against what it perceives as direct involvement by Chinese companies in supporting Moscow's military efforts.
