Former President Barack Obama has expressed his disappointment with the outcome, where President Trump and Senator Vance emerged victorious.

Despite acknowledging the democratic process, Obama highlighted the significant differences between his supporters and the Republican candidates on key issues.

Reflecting on the election results, Obama stated, "This is obviously not the outcome we had hoped for, given our profound disagreements with the Republican ticket on a whole host of issues." However, he emphasized the importance of accepting the peaceful transfer of power as a fundamental democratic value.

Obama took the opportunity to commend Vice President Kamala Harris and Governor Tim Walz for their dedication and remarkable campaigns. "Michelle and I could not be prouder of Vice President Harris and Governor Walz two extraordinary public servants who ran a remarkable campaign," he said, expressing gratitude to the staff and volunteers who supported them.

Addressing the broader challenges facing America, Obama noted the impact of the pandemic and economic struggles on the political landscape. He acknowledged that these issues have created difficulties for democratic incumbents globally, including in the United States. Yet, he maintained a hopeful outlook, asserting that solutions are possible if Americans engage in open dialogue and uphold democratic principles.

"The good news is that these problems are solvable but only if we listen to each other, and only if we abide by the core constitutional principles and democratic norms that made this country great," Obama remarked.

He concluded with a call for unity, urging Americans to extend grace and understanding even amidst disagreements. "Progress requires us to extend good faith and grace even to people with whom we deeply disagree," he concluded, the need for national cohesion to build a more just and equal society.
