UTME 2025: JAMB Begins Centre Accreditation

Esther

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has officially commenced the accreditation process for examination centres. This crucial step marks the beginning of preparations for the annual examination, which is a gateway for prospective undergraduates seeking admission into Nigerian universities.

Dr. Fabian Benjamin, JAMB’s Director of Communications, emphasized the importance of this process, stating that it is "a critical first step in preparation for the annual examination." The accreditation involves both new and established Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres. New centres interested in participating must visit JAMB's official website to understand the requirements for establishing a JAMB-approved CBT centre. They are required to notify the Board in writing of their intention to participate, addressing their letters to the Registrar of JAMB through the Zonal Director or State Coordinator in their respective states.

For centres that were successfully accredited and participated in the 2024 UTME without any issues, the process is slightly different. These centres should register their interest through the Centre Management System (CMS) Portal. As part of the accreditation process, all centres must conduct an Autobot/Autotest on a date that will be communicated to them. This test is mandatory, and only those centres that successfully complete it and meet the necessary criteria will be eligible for a physical visit by the Board’s team.

The physical accreditation exercise is scheduled for December 2024. Dr. Benjamin noted, "Only centres that qualify will receive information regarding the date for the physical accreditation exercise." Centres that do not achieve satisfactory results on the Autobot/Autotest will not be revisited, ensuring that only the most prepared and compliant centres are approved for the 2025 UTME registration and examination.
