'Voting for APC Simply Means You Endorse Hunger, Misery' - Atiku to Edo Voters

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has issued a stern warning to the citizens of Edo State, cautioning them against voting for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the upcoming governorship election.

In a statement titled "The clear choice for a prosperous Edo State" posted on his Facebook page on Wednesday, September 18, 2024, Atiku emphasized that casting a vote for the APC would be tantamount to endorsing "misery and hardship."

Atiku criticized the APC for its handling of the nation's affairs, particularly highlighting the soaring fuel prices, which have exceeded ₦900 per litre. He accused the party of plunging Nigeria into an "abyss of suffering," sowing seeds of "poverty, despair, and insecurity." He urged voters to reflect on whether their lives had improved under the APC administration or if their struggles had only deepened.

He further accused the APC of luring gullible voters with "sweet promises," only to reveal their true nature as a party driven by a hunger for power rather than the well-being of the people. Atiku stated, "They have forsaken the ideals of governance, ignoring the cries of the common man while pursuing their selfish ambitions."

Atiku called on the people of Edo State to elect Dr. Asue Ighodalo, the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), describing it as an act of reclaiming their future. He praised the current Governor Godwin Obaseki's work and urged voters to consolidate these efforts by choosing Ighodalo, promising a future of "prosperity, dignity, and hope."

In his impassioned plea, Atiku said, "The once vibrant spirit of our nation has been dimmed by a relentless struggle for survival, where even the simplest of needs, like food, have become out of reach for millions. In this grim reality, our people are not dying of disease but of hunger."

He concluded by emphasizing the power residents hold to break free from bad governance and chart a new course for Edo, urging them to use their votes wisely in the forthcoming election.
