The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has firmly reiterated its stance that it purchased petrol from Dangote Refinery at N898 per litre, despite the Dangote Group's denial.

This assertion was made public on Sunday, through a statement by NNPCL spokesperson Olufemi Soneye, who emphasized, "We stand by our earlier stand that Dangote Refinery Petrol is sold to us at N898 per litre. We have documents to back this point."

This controversy erupted after Dangote Refinery commenced loading petrol on Sunday, with 70 trucks from NNPCL reportedly transporting the fuel. The Dangote Group, represented by its spokesperson Anthony Chiejina, refuted NNPCL's claim, urging the company not to mislead Nigerians. However, NNPCL remains steadfast, insisting that their records substantiate the price of N898 per litre.

The dispute has sparked considerable confusion and debate within Nigeria's petroleum sector, underlining critical issues of transparency and communication between two of the industry's major players. The conflicting statements from NNPCL and Dangote Group have left many questioning the accuracy of the information being disseminated and the potential implications for the market and consumers.
