"We Have Not Fixed Petrol Price," Says Dangote Group

Dangote Refinery has categorically denied claims that it has set the price of petrol at ₦600 per litre. This clarification comes in response to widespread speculation and reports suggesting that the refinery would sell its Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) at this rate.

The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) had earlier projected that the Dangote Refinery would price its petrol between ₦600 and ₦650 per litre once it hits the market. However, Dangote Refinery has firmly dismissed these assertions.

Anthony Chiejina, the Group Chief Branding and Communications Officer of Dangote Industries Limited, issued a press statement on Tuesday evening addressing the rumors. "Our attention has been drawn to headlines announcing 'Marketers Project N600/litre for Dangote Petrol' published in Punch Newspapers of Tuesday, August 13," Chiejina stated.

He further clarified, "We would like to clarify that the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) is not our business partner yet. We have never discussed the price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) with them and they have no mandate or authority to speak for us, either for good or with hidden transcript."

Chiejina urged the public to disregard such speculative announcements and emphasized that Dangote Refinery has its own official channels for communicating with stakeholders. "We urge the public to desist from such speculative announcements. We have our official channels through which we make our views known to our stakeholders," he added.

This statement aims to put to rest any confusion regarding the pricing of petrol from the Dangote Refinery, which is currently operating at a capacity of 350,000 barrels per day and is expected to scale up to 500,000 barrels per day by July/August.

The refinery, a $19 billion investment, is designed to process a wide variety of crudes, including many African, Middle Eastern and US Light Tight Oil, producing Euro-V quality gasoline, diesel, jet fuel and polypropylene.

For more updates and official statements, stakeholders and the general public are encouraged to follow Dangote Refinery's authorized communication channels.
