West Ham United have officially confirmed the signing of Aaron Wan-Bissaka from Manchester United in a deal valued at approximately £15 million. The transfer, which had been on the verge of collapse due to prolonged salary negotiations, was finalized just days before West Ham's season opener against Aston Villa at the London Stadium.

Wan-Bissaka, who struggled for first-team minutes under Erik ten Hag at Old Trafford due to injuries and a reduced role, is recognized as one of the Premier League's top 1v1 defenders. His addition is seen as a significant boost to West Ham's defensive lineup. The right-back has committed to a long-term contract with the Hammers, spanning seven years.

This acquisition marks West Ham's seventh signing of the summer under new manager Julen Lopetegui, following the arrivals of Max Kilman, Luis Guilherme, Crysencio Summerville, Niclas Fullkrug, Guido Rodriguez, and Wes Foderingham. Club owner David Sullivan has shown unwavering support for Lopetegui's vision, investing heavily to build a squad capable of competing for European qualification and silverware this season.

Despite Wan-Bissaka's arrival, West Ham may still seek additional reinforcements, particularly in defense, to provide cover for players like Max Kilman and Jean-Clair Todibo. The club has also been linked with a potential move for former Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund center-back Mats Hummels, who is currently a free agent.

Wan-Bissaka's departure from Manchester United was widely anticipated, given his limited playing time and the fact that he had only one year remaining on his contract. His move to West Ham represents a fresh start and an opportunity to re-establish himself as a key player in the Premier League.

With the addition of Wan-Bissaka, West Ham's defensive capabilities are expected to be considerably strengthened, providing a solid foundation for their campaign ahead.
