WHO Unveils Comprehensive List of Heart Attack Symptoms

The World Health Organization (WHO) has released a detailed list of common symptoms associated with heart attacks, aiming to enhance public awareness and prompt timely medical intervention. According to the WHO, heart attack symptoms can vary widely among individuals but often include several key indicators.

Chest pain is a predominant symptom, typically described as pressure, tightness, pain, squeezing, or aching in the chest. This discomfort may extend to other parts of the upper body, including the shoulder, arm, back, neck, jaw, teeth or even the upper belly.

Additionally, individuals may experience cold sweats, fatigue, heartburn or indigestion, lightheadedness or sudden dizziness, nausea, and shortness of breath.

- Chest pain or discomfort: This may feel like pressure, tightness, pain, squeezing, or aching.

- Pain or discomfort that spreads: This can affect the shoulder, arm, back, neck, jaw, teeth, or sometimes the upper belly.

- Cold sweat: Breaking out in a cold sweat is a common symptom.

- Fatigue: Feeling unusually tired or fatigued.

- Heartburn or indigestion: Some people may experience these gastrointestinal symptoms.

- Lightheadedness or sudden dizziness: Feeling faint or dizzy can be a sign.

- Nausea: Feeling nauseous or actually vomiting.

- Shortness of breath: This can occur with or without chest discomfort.

The WHO emphasizes that these symptoms can manifest differently in women, who might experience atypical signs such as brief or sharp pain in the neck, arm, or back. It is crucial to recognize these symptoms early and seek immediate medical help by calling emergency services, as acting swiftly can save lives.
