Why I Rejected Super Eagles Offer as Head Coach - French Coach Hervé Renard's

French coach Hervé Renard recently opened up about his decision to decline the role of head coach for Nigeria’s Super Eagles, despite it being the most financially attractive offer he had received.

Renard, who has previously led teams like Ivory Coast and Zambia to success, was approached by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) following the departure of Finidi George in May.

In an interview with French outlet L’Équipe, Renard explained, “I almost went to Nigeria. I weighed the pros and cons for a few days, even weeks, before eventually turning it down. It was the best offer I’ve had so far, but it didn’t suit me in the end.”

This statement highlights the careful consideration Renard gave to the opportunity, balancing the lucrative nature of the offer against personal and professional factors that ultimately led him to decline.

Following Renard's decision, Augustine Eguavoen, who initially served as interim coach, was appointed as the new head coach of the Super Eagles.
