WWE legend and Hollywood actor John Cena has candidly shared his disdain for filming sex scenes, describing the experience as "the worst."
During a recent appearance on the "Club Shay Shay" podcast with Shannon Sharpe, Cena revealed the uncomfortable reality behind shooting intimate scenes in movies.
Cena, who is widely known for his larger-than-life personal in the wrestling ring, discussed his discomfort with these scenes, which he encountered during his role in Amy Schumer's 2015 comedy "Trainwreck."
The 16-time WWE World Heavyweight Champion admitted that shooting such scenes is far from glamorous.
When asked by Sharpe if filming these scenes is difficult, Cena responded emphatically, "Yes!" He elaborated on the awkwardness, explaining that while it might seem like just two people on screen, the reality is quite different. "Right now, you guys at home think it's just us," Cena said. "There's a whole f****** world back there."
He described the experience as "really embarrassing," noting that the presence of a full crew removes any sense of intimacy.
Cena also highlighted the unique challenges of comedic sex scenes, which require actors to make the situation as awkward as possible while being watched by the entire crew.
"It's different," he said, acknowledging that the reality of filming these scenes is nothing like what audiences might imagine.
Despite the awkwardness, Cena expressed gratitude for the opportunity to learn from Amy Schumer and director Judd Apatow, calling the experience valuable.
The film "Trainwreck" was a commercial success, grossing $140 million at the box office.
