Germany's Yemisi Ogunleye clinched the gold medal in the women's shot put event at the Paris Olympics. Ogunleye's final throw of 20.00 meters secured her victory.

This achievement not only earned her a personal best but also made her the first German to win the event since Astrid Kumbernuss in 1996.

The competition was intense, with New Zealand's Maddison-Lee Wesche leading until Ogunleye's decisive throw.

Wesche ultimately took the silver medal with a throw of 19.86 meters, while Song Jiayuan from the People's Republic of China claimed the bronze with a distance of 19.32 meters.
