Sunday Adeyemo, widely known as Sunday Igboho, has formally submitted a petition to the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Keir Starmer.
This move is part of a broader effort led by Prof. Adebanji Akintoye, the leader of the Yoruba Nation movement, which aims to establish a nation predominantly inhabited by indigenous Yoruba people.
The petition, delivered at 10 Downing Street, was announced by Igboho's spokesman, Olayomi Koiki, who shared on social media:
“At exactly 14:00 hrs Dr. Chief Sunday Igboho delivered a petition to the UK Prime Minister on behalf of Prof. Adebanji Akintoye, leader of the YORUBA NATION movement.”
Igboho has been a prominent figure in advocating for the Yoruba nation's actualization, despite facing significant opposition from the Nigerian government. Prof. Akintoye has previously accused the government of attempting to dissuade Igboho from his activism. Notably, there were allegations that former Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai (retd.), offered Igboho billions of naira to renounce his efforts, an offer Igboho reportedly refused.as formally submitted a petition to the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Keir Starmer.
